Christmas Party and Arrow of Light Ceremony

Alex was awarded the Arrow of Light at our December Pack meeting!  We are so proud of his accomplishment!  After the ceremony, the dens had a great time competing to see who could do the best job decorating their den leaders (who were pretending to be trees).  It was a night filled with laughter and we appreciate the den leaders being such good sports.  We ended with treats!

Kick-off the New Year!

We kicked things off to a great start this week. We started out making paper footballs as our gathering activity.

After a brief discussion and object lesson involving football and the Faith in God program, we divided into dens. The leaders spoke with the parents and Webelos about the upcoming year.

The Wolves and Bears made posters for the pack meeting with the Cubmaster.

Then we ended by eating yummy football shaped KK doughnuts! Go SCOUTS!

25 Day Challenge Champions

On August 1st we challenged the Cub Scouts to earn 25 signatures in their books in 25 days as they counted down to the beginning of school. All 9 of the cubs who accepted the challenge met the challenge! I was so proud of them. The reward for all their hard work? A Wii and pizza party the Friday night after school started. We set up 3 Wiis and let the boys rotate through after each round, so everyone got to play with everyone else. We even had cupcakes that looked like Mario Mushrooms. Thanks, Sister Schell!

I Scream, You Scream....

We all scream for ICE CREAM!!!!

After a fun night playing football and volleyball outside, our boys made homemade ice cream in Ziploc Baggies. The boys had fun making their own treats and enjoyed eating their yummy creations before it melted in the sweltering heat.

What you'll need:

* 1 tablespoon sugar
* 1/2 cup milk or half & half
* 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
* 6 tablespoons rock salt
* 1 pint-size plastic food storage bag (e.g., Ziploc)
* 1 gallon-size plastic food storage bag
* Ice cubes

How to make it:

1. Fill the large bag half full of ice, and add the rock salt. Seal the bag.
2. Put milk, vanilla, and sugar into the small bag, and seal it.
3. Place the small bag inside the large one, and seal it again carefully.
4. Shake until the mixture is ice cream, which takes about 5 minutes.
5. Wipe off the top of the small bag, then open it carefully. Enjoy!
