Blue and Gold Banquet-American Heroes

We celebrated our Cub Scouts achievements at our annual Blue and Gold Banquet this week. Our theme was American Heroes. The boys put a lot of time into helping with decorations and entertainment for the big event. I was very proud of their efforts.

For our gathering activity, we had each guest make a thank you card for a soldier serving in Iraq. We also collected items to send him in a care package.

We decorated the tables with flags and pictures of American Heroes.

The entire pack participated in the opening flag ceremony.

We ate "Hero" subs and apple pie. One of our Webelos made "Hero" flags for all of our sandwiches.

Captain Garrett Jackson spoke to us about being a Hero and the heroes he met while serving overseas.

Each den presented a skit that they had prepared about American Heroes.

Then we had our awards ceremony. Each boy was honored as we shared a story about a time he was a hero, himself. Thank you to the parents for helping us collect these stories.

Two of our boys received their Bobcats, one received his Bear, one his Webelo, 2 received their religious knots, and several other boys earned beads, belt loops, and arrow points.

We closed the evening with two of our Webelos singing "God Bless America."

Hi Danielle,

I just wanted to thank you for your blog :)

I'm a new cub scout leader and have no idea what I'm doing, lol! I found your blog when I googled blue and gold banquets--thanks for being out there!
